Rudolf Neudörfer grew up in the Czech Republic and went to the Violin Making School in Luby. He then worked at the Cremona cooperation for string instruments there until he escaped socialist Czechia by posing as a ski coach at the Olympic Games in 1964. He eventually worked at the Finkel workshop for six years before opening his own workshop in 1973 in Bubenreuth. In the 1980’s he won several prizes at competitions at the Violin Society of America and in Wiesbaden, Germany, where he won a gold medal for his violin bows.
