This is a bright powerful instrument that is perfect for the soloist or the orchestral player wanting a sound that cut through!
Originally built as a pair, B1 was used for many years in Berlin Academy before returning to Australia. (B2 was purchased by ANAM Melbourne).
A model is inspired by an instruments by Gabriel Lemböck (1814-1892). Accurately copied to the finest details and tested against an original. Lemböck was a Hungarian born Viennese instrument maker famous for his accurate and impressive copies of fine Viennese double basses and fine Italian instruments. His instruments were praised for their fullness of tone coupled with responsiveness.
Features traditional gamba corners and a flat back, as well as custom authentic Viennese wooden pegs and fittings.

String length: 110cm ( can be made with smaller 106cm)
Rib size: 21cm to 18cm at neck heel
This exceptionally versatile model can be made as a 5 or 4 string orchestral bass, set up for solo playing or in traditional Viennese tuning.
