Wonderful to be offering this instrument for sale!
Tasmanian-based Philip Smith is one of the most highly regarded and respected instrument and bow makers in Australia. We are thrilled to have one of his double basses in our showroom, a fine example of his exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail.

This stunning original model is constructed from high-quality European timbers, with its beautifully carved scroll crowned by one of Philip's own handcrafted C-extensions. Like all of his basses, this instrument offers an effortless response and remarkable playability, making shifting between positions incredibly approachable.

Philip's instruments rarely come up for sale on the mainland, such is the demand for his work. For those seeking a highly adaptable, contemporary professional double bass, this is an exceptional instrument and one very well worth exploring.
